Beautiful British Columbia

This summer has been full of fun travels! I feel SO lucky to have had the opportunity to see and do soo much in the past few months. My most recent trip was to Kelowna with two of my best buds Sadie and Lauren. We drove down in their little red echo and stayed with their aunts Paddy and JoAnne. This was our second summer staying with them and they always make us feel so welcomed and loved! Paddy is a wonderful cook and I learnt a lot as she created amazing meals using fresh ingredients and local produce from the farmers market. I wish I had taken a picture of those delicious dishes. We had so many adventures from bass fishing, beach tripping, mountain biking and floating down a lazy river to finding our spirit animals and hitting up a huge bookstore. I guess I’ll make a post for each of my five highlights. There were way more but I’ll just share a few.
This picture doesn't even do it justice!
This was our last dinner together. We went to a yummy mexican restaurant!
At one of our stops on the way there we found this lovely prop.
Bahaha so Lauren spotted this super sweet bike and we just loved it soo much we took some pictures with it. Soo many people ride bikes in Kelowna! They have lots of bike lanes and great trails. The next one I buy I want it to be something to be like this! A cute little basket would be nice as well.

                                                                         How beautiful!!!!

Crayola Is Taking Over The World!!!

Okay so that’s maybe a tad dramatic but seriously people they are! In the pencil crayon sense, it’s true – have they monopolized pencil crayon production? You walk into the store and ask for pencil crayons and you get a dozen versions of Crayola. I have been on a search for the past few months (the search getting more intense as the weeks pass) for Laurentien colored pencils. I’ll admit I’m kind of a stationary snob but that’s a whole other story. Laurentien has the BEST pencil crayons that just remind me soo much of being a kid! Crayola break too easily and they don’t feel the same when you use them and other pencil crayons are either too waxy or dull on the paper. Laurentien is what I grew up using and now they are seemingly impossible to find.

Applied

Since finishing my dental assisting program at NAIT this June my summer has become a strategic scramble to take as many vacations as possible. I’ve come to realize there are only a few opportunities left to do this before I have to dedicate my summers to a 9-5. Finding a job became the last thing on my mind, I just thought I’d line one up and start in September. Now that it’s September the reality of the situation is kicking in. It’s a strange feeling not going back to school; it feels almost unnatural when all of your friends are back in class and you’re left wondering now what? I guess the next logical step is to start in my career and take on a few more adult responsibilities. I decided the best way to tackle this unemployment stint was to head on over to the LDS employment center to vamp up my resume and cover letter. I am so thankful for Diann and Jennifer who helped me out; they are such wonderful, patient ladies!! We got my resume looking professional and put together and then I faxed and emailed it out to 15 different offices in Edmonton and Beaumont. I’ve already heard back from one office but sadly the position has already been filled. I also got an interview this past Friday for another office and it went extremely well. I got the job but it’s only 3 days a week (2 evenings and a Saturday). I’m hoping to get another job with 40 hours a week, no evenings or weekends so I can work both clinics. This is a good start!!!

Happy (early) Birthday to me!

On Thursday I went out to run some errands and when I came home there was a lovely black package waiting on my doorstep. My birthday present to myself showed up sooner than I thought it would. This just made my day! I ordered these super cute gladiator sandals from Spring. The details on the straps are beautiful!! I’ve been eyeing them for weeks and now they are finally mine. It may sound silly to buy yourself a birthday gift but I don’t care. Happy early birthday to me… let's eat some cake!!!

Once upon a time...How all great endeavours begin

Once upon a time there was a point where I thought I'd never be the type of person to start a blog. I’ll be honest I considered it a while ago but dismissed the thought quickly. It takes a lot of time to think of what to blog about and maybe even more time to type up the posts. Not to mention that trying to organize the layout might prove to be too difficult. The fact that I’m a total perfectionist also deterred me. Many tasks I’ve taken on have only continued for a short time before the lack of complete perfection discourages me and alters my focus onto a new interest. Many of my friends have beautiful and current blogs that I enjoy reading, but what would I have to post? Lately I have found myself going throughout my day and thinking, “that would make a great blog post…IF I had a blog” I’ve come to realize that life is funny and well… why not share the experience?
